We will by no means let the rights of our nation and of Turkish Cypriots be usurped. We are determined to foil all the traps set against our country in the north of Syria, Iraq and the Eastern Mediterranean. The struggle that the Turkish Armed Forces wage inside and outside our borders to preserve our national permanence is the most obvious proof of this. Just like all our victories in history, it was the courage of our heroes, who sacrificed themselves without batting an eye, what was behind the August 30.Īs was the case in the past, our people are, today as well, poised to show the same self-sacrifice and courage for their independence and future as well as for the sake of their homeland, which they consider to be more precious than their lives.

The great victory, which heralded the Republic of Turkey, our ultimate state, was the revival of the Turkish Nation, sought to be erased from history. The Great Offensive, launched under Ghazi Mustafa Kemal’s Commander-in-Chiefship on August 26, 1922, was crowned with victory in Dumlupınar after tough battles. I wholeheartedly congratulate each and every one our citizens, who live in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, our 81 provinces and across the world, on the August 30 Victory Day.

I remember with mercy and gratitude Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the commander-in-chief of our War of Independence, the honorable members of the Great National Assembly of Turkey, and all the members of our military, who gifted our people this victory, on the 97 th anniversary of the great victory. “Today, we, as the nation, are celebrating the 97 th anniversary of the August 30 Victory Day, one of the golden links in our glorious history. Following is the message President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued on August 30 Victory Day:
